Functional Nutrition

Jessica studied with the Functional Nutrition Alliance, led by Andrea Nakayama. This school focuses on the full body systems and how they interconnect: digestive, immune, cardio, urinary, endocrine, neuro and reproductive. A Certified Functional Nutrition Counsellor uses framework to get to know the individual’s whole health story, and to connect the dots about what might be generating dysfunction. You will work together to correct the root cause of the illness or dysfunction, by shifting the body’s terrain sustainably.

/ CARDIO /

Cardiorespiratory Health

Our personal training sessions include the perfect balance of strength training with cardiorespiratory challenges, typically is a circuit format, to improve one’s complete fitness profile. Jessica often uses short bursts of cardio challenges woven between strength exercises so that the heart experiences a challenge fit to the individual, and the client’s entire fitness level (and longevity) improves.

/ POSTURE AND INJURY PREVENTION /

Posture and Injury Prevention

In all personal training programs, regardless of the goal of the individual, optimal biomechanics and injury prevention are top of mind. Jessica’s first priority when meeting with a client is to note compensation patterns or imbalances within the body, so that she can program to rebalance and correct the tissues and structure. She may not always bore you with the technical behind-the-scenes, unless you share the interest, but this value is ALWAYS applied.

If you cut corners in your workouts, and don’t address imbalances, they can become bigger problems down the line. We want LONGTERM health and function, and won’t settle for less.

Note: Jessica is a qualifying ELDOA practitioner, having completed Level 1 & 2 (the spine).

What is ELDOA?

ELDOA was founded by the late Guy Voyer, globally renowned Osteopath, and is a technique that uses tensegrity of the fascia, and de-coaption between any two particular joints. The poses / exercises work to rebalance the fascia and to create space in the joints, completely changing your body’s trajectory when it comes to injury and chronic pain.

ELDOA is remarkably effective for improving back imbalances - so people who are challenged by neck pain, upper / mid / lower back pain will see great improvements from using this approach.
